SSD4 is a MIDI based sampler (virtual instrument), where as Trigger is a Drum Replacer.

3) What is the difference between Trigger 2 EX and Trigger 2 Platinum?

4) Does Trigger 2 require a physical iLok for activation and use?
Yes, the Trigger license can only be activated to an iLok 1, 2 or 3 Dongle. We recommend activating to an iLok 2 or 3 since 1st generation iLoks are outdated and no longer sold. The Trigger license cannot be activated directly to the machine, or to iLok Cloud.
